This year Jennifer DeCasper will be the keynote speaker at graduation. DeCasper received her bachelor’s degree from Colorado Mesa University, and her law degree from University of Michigan. She went on to serve as a Deputy District Attorney for the Colorado’s 18th Judicial District, and was an aide to former Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO). She currently holds a position as Deputy Chief of Staff in Senator Tim Scott’s office of (R-SC). Selina Najar, CMU ASG President, chose DeCasper to be the keynote speaker and wanted to share, “I invited her because her story in particular is interesting. She left a high ranked job, as the assistant to the Attorney General in Colorado, to be a bag checker at an airport. She took a chance in leaving a career so she could be happy. DeCasper was willing to stand alone for their personal beliefs and happiness. That’s what the maverick spirit is taking a chance, and thats what mavericks do.”
